Now at Liberty University, Hugh Freeze Is Selling His $810K Mississippi Home

The 2019 college football season is off to a drama-filled start. We were intrigued by the ability of Liberty University head coach Hugh Freeze to coach an entire game from a hospital bed in the press box.

After suffering a painful herniated disc, the coach adopted a reclining position and coached the Flames to two losses from his perch above the field. For the second game, he ditched the bed in favor of a “medical chair.”

While he’s working his way through the vagaries of pain management, Freeze is also busy off the field. The former Ole Miss coach is ready to move “Forward, Rebels.” He’s put his home in Oxford, MS, on the market for $810,000.

It appears that Freeze should have followed his own advice on the never-ending rent versus buy debate. In 2012, he told the Wall Street Journal his one piece of advice for college coaches was simply to rent in all cases.

After resigning in July 2017 from the head-coaching gig at the University of Mississippi, after allegations of off-field improprieties, Freeze was stuck with a home in Mississippi. The saving grace? It’s a beautiful home.

The 4,540-square-foot residence is located in the Highlands, one of Oxford’s most sought-after neighborhoods. It offers five bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and an ample open floor plan.

Built in 2008, the home offers a modern feel, with a bit of rustic luxury as well. Hardwood floors meet oversized windows, making the most of the views from all angles. There are vaulted ceilings in the main living space, which make the room seem larger than it already is.null

In the kitchen, dark wood cabinets are accented by granite countertops, and the top-of-the-line appliances are at the ready to produce culinary masterpieces.

Outside, there’s a large pool and outdoor kitchen, as well as a cabana for entertaining. Once the sun sets, it will be perfect for grilling burgers in the early evening and catching fireflies.

In December 2018, Freeze landed the job as the head coach at Liberty in Lynchburg, VA. This move north prompted his family to part with their Mississippi home.

After two years away from the sidelines, the coach was eager to return to action—but he probably didn’t expect it to be from a hospital bed.
